The Gazette and Major Groups Endorse Susan Lee

On May 7, 2014, The Gazette endorsed Susan Lee for State Senate with these words:

“With three terms under her belt in the House, Lee deserves the Democratic nomination for the District 16 Senate seat. Her priorities include those advocated by most Democrats: more state money for education; environmental protection; and mass transit, including the Purple Line and Metrorail. But Lee also has been a leader in efforts to fight domestic violence — helping make it easier for victims to get protective orders — and to enact stricter gun regulations.”

Delegate Lee also has received the endorsements of dozens of key elected and community leaders in District 16, as well as the endorsements of leading organizations such as:

  • Montgomery County Education Associaton (MCEA – teachers)
  • Maryland State Education Association (MSEA – teachers)
  • Montgomery Public Schools Retirees Association
  • Maryland League of Conservation Voters
  • Sierra Club Maryland
  • Equality Maryland
  • NARAL Pro Choice Maryland
  • Progressive Maryland
  • Maryland/DC AFL-CIO
  • SEIU, Local 500
  • Brickyard Coalition
  • Montgomery County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association (MCVFA)
  • Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 35 Montgomery County
  • Montgomery County National Organization of Women PAC (MC NOW)
  • African American Democratic Club of Montgomery County (AADCMC)
  • Coalition of Asian Pacific American Democrats of Maryland (CAPAD-MD)
  • Hispanic Democratic Club of Montgomery County (HDC)

“I am honored to be endorsed by The Gazette and by these many distinguished organizations and individuals from District 16,” said Delegate Lee. “I look forward to campaigning on my record and continuing to serve the people of District 16.”
